Start with the problem, not the product

A product name can pull the whole visit off course. Begin with what feels wrong, what has changed and what a useful result would look like.

Blank paper slips and small check marks arranged for taking questions and notes

  • It affects daily life by…
  • I have already tried…

Notebook entry

Bring the ordinary facts

List current medicines, supplements, allergies, past reactions and the names of the other doctors and nurses who treat you.

Also write down what you hope to rule out, for example “Could something else be causing this?” A “no” to a question like that is still useful.

A good visit can rule something out and still move the problem forward.

Do not choose from a treatment menu

In May 2026 the nationwide federation of state medical boards warned against treatment menus.

Its point: a patient ticking a box on a list of treatments, without anyone genuinely assessing their health, is not proper care.

The doctor or nurse should ask you questions of their own, about the things a sales page never asks.
